The meeting began at 9:25 PM. In attendance were: tal, ste, ges, phil and on the phone: anothy, michael & ck.

Tal mentioned that several people are working on a system to handle our financials. They will propose it as a possible replacement for O, when and if it becomes a viable program. The working notes are being kept in our twiki, and the people involved are: tal, ste, paul & phil.

The status on the collective machine is that it has not yet been purchased. Dan hopes to be in a financial position to do this in another month or two. Rather than use the temporary system he's offered us, we've decided to wait on him, as long as he keeps us updated on it's status and ETA.

Anothy has accepted a position in Maryland, and has decided to leave the collective, effective as of the September Collective meeting. Anothy thinks he'll remove his equipment this weekend, however. Even though his system will be moving out of the Collective, he will continue to provide us access to O/Bank, until we've had an opportunity to audit it and move the balances to a replacement financial system. Anothy will sent tal a list of who's on the folks mailing list so that he can recreate the list on whatexit. Anyone using anothy's system for DNS should find a new host for it, or make whatever adjustments they need. If you rely on Anothy's system for any other services, you should talk to him and make arrangments as required. Anothy's leaving means we need a new treasurer, clerk, and backup person for documentation. Ges says he'll be the documentation backup. Ste has agreed to be the new treasurer. Tal will be our new clerk. Phil has offered to become the assistant clerk, since he's likely to be at the meetings, if plus wishes to give up this role.

We thank anothy for his many years of service to the Collective and we wish him all the best on his new job. The peanut gallery echos this sentiment.

Michael has also decided to also leave the Collective, effective as of the September Collective meeting, because anothy's system is leaving. We believe there are no transition issues with his leaving, and no roles to be filled.

We thank Michael for his many years of service to the Collective. He was one of the founding members, who created the basic Quaker structure of the Collective, the financial system that enables us to operate, and instituted a respect for diversity within our membership. Most of the members of the Collective became so because he recruited them, and since the organization is as good as its members, he has, in this way, also created a very strong organization. We wish him all the best in his new endevours.

We agree to accept, in principle, the WhatExit procedures, and the Quaker style business meeting guidelines, noting that we will likely make minor modifications to one or both documents. Phil will collect the modifications people would like see made, and put them up on the twiki. At our next meeting, we will accept or reject them.

Member Proposed Name Votes
paul bandwidth.nj.us 0
ck BandwidthCollective.org 0
phil databasement.org 27
tal InColoParentis.org 1
ste njbwc.org 0
ges njcollective.org 3

The new name of our organization will be The Databasement (with the domain being databasement.org). The use of the name WhatExit (whatexit.org) now reverts to tal's personal use. We thank tal for his generous loan of the name to the organization.

Jen has registered databasement.org on behalf of phil; ges and ste will provide DNS primary/secondary.
