Setting up a virtual alias table in postfix on whatexit.org

What is this?

This is a set of aliases that apply to a domain. If there are no matches, the whatexit.org alias table is checked as a last resort.

This is different from the virtualization stuff, that is handled by the "virtual" transport, that lets you have different mail boxes for each virtual domain.

Steps

  1. Make sure the domain is NOT listed in $mydestination
  2. Make sure the domain IS listed in $virtual_alias_domains
  3. Make sure your map is listed in $virtual_alias_maps
  4. If you want unknown@DOMAIN to go to tal+DOMAIN+unknown@whatexitSPAMSUX.org, edit /etc/postfix/virtual_regexp
  5. If there are mailman lists specific to that domain, add to the virtual_regexp file

Current virtual alias domains on whatexit.org

  • limoncelli.org and limoncelli.com
  • acgnj.org,
  • bizone.org,
  • d-o-g-s.org,
  • groupname.org,
  • kristol.org,
  • lists.projectudi.org,
  • projectudi.org,
  • trans-health.com,
  • transcendingboundaries.org
